Privacy notice

A plain-language summary of the information this site collects and why.

Who operates the site

The Impact of AI is currently operated by Mario Demetriou. Business details will be updated when the sole-trader account is in place.

Information you provide

If you join the briefing, we store your email address, the time of consent, any topics you choose, the referral code connected with the signup and limited campaign attribution such as the signup page, campaign label and broad acquisition source. If you send a commercial enquiry, we store the contact details and message you submit so the enquiry can be answered.

How information is used

Subscriber details are used to operate the requested briefing, send a welcome message, measure which launch channels produce genuine subscribers and honour unsubscribe requests. When email delivery is active, Resend processes the email address and message solely to deliver and diagnose the briefing. Enquiry details are used to respond and manage a potential commercial relationship. We do not sell personal information.

Advertising and analytics

The portal uses Google AdSense to support advertising, subject to Google’s site approval. The AdSense tag connects to Google to deliver its consent message and advertising services. Google and its advertising partners may process device information, cookies and activity to deliver, measure and, with the required consent, personalise ads. Readers in the UK, EEA and Switzerland can allow, decline or manage advertising consent through Google’s message. Advertising consent is separate from optional Google Analytics consent. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and use the advertising privacy choices below to revisit your decision.

The portal records a limited set of first-party events—such as a page view, opening or reaching the end of an article, opening the Impact Tracker, starting or sharing an Impact Radar, opening a campaign page and completing a briefing signup—without creating a behavioural profile or storing an advertising identifier. The record includes the page path, chosen article language and, when a tagged link is used, bounded campaign labels such as source, medium, campaign and content. Referrers are reduced to broad categories such as direct, search, social, internal or external. These first-party counts cannot identify a unique person or browser. The hosting platform may also process essential technical logs needed to deliver, secure and diagnose the site.

If you allow optional analytics, Google Analytics 4 measures visits, approximate users, traffic sources and reading interactions using cookies and technical information about your browser and device. Google receives page addresses and activity events, including article opens and reading milestones; we do not send submitted email addresses, reader comments or Impact Radar choices with these events. Google Analytics does not load before you give consent. Google signals and ad personalisation through Analytics are disabled. The private editorial console, unsubscribe pages, automated browser checks and browsers using the visit-counting opt-out are excluded. Google handles analytics information under its privacy policy. You can allow or decline analytics below; withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection and clears this site’s Google Analytics cookies without changing your separate advertising consent.

If you choose another reading language, the site remembers that preference in your browser so travel does not change it. Country inferred from the network connection is used only to suggest an edition; the site does not store your IP address in its editorial event records. Automatic translations are generated from the public UK English article by a service provider and cached for readers. They may contain errors, so the English original and source links remain available.

Saved stories and reading preferences

When you save reports, follow topics or resume reading, the portal stores a small reading list and reading positions only in this browser. It does not send this list or your topic choices to analytics or create an account. Clear these choices using “Your reading” on the homepage. Your news-feed filters and return position are kept temporarily in session storage. Listening uses your browser’s built-in speech service after you press play; voice availability depends on your browser and device.

Video players and reading counters

Official YouTube video players load only after you choose “Load video player”. Until then, the watch section makes no request to YouTube. When loaded, the privacy-enhanced player connects to Google under its privacy policy. We count player loads, not video plays or completed watches.

The reading counters distinguish reaching the article’s bottom from spending at least 45 seconds in a visible, focused tab. A timed read-through records both signals; neither proves comprehension. Known crawler user agents and the authenticated editor’s visits are excluded. A device-local preference lets you pause future first-party activity counting without a visitor identifier. Each event has a random delivery token so a retried request is counted once; the token identifies that event and cannot link separate visits or readers.

Impact Radar choices

The My AI Impact Radar stores the four broad categories you choose in your browser so the result can be restored later. Those choices are not sent with the limited first-party event record. If you deliberately create a share link, the broad role, sector, region and priority appear in that link so another person can open the same result. You can remove the locally stored choices with “Start again” or through your browser settings.

Reader comments

If you submit a reader note, we store the display name, comment, optional evidence link, related article and submission time. Approved notes appear publicly on the article and commentary page and can be shared with a direct link. Notes are reviewed before publication; rejected notes may be retained to support moderation and abuse prevention. Do not submit personal or confidential information.

Aggregate patterns and sharing

We count article and commentary share actions alongside anonymous reading events. A share action means copying a link, using the device share menu or opening a sharing service; it does not confirm a post was published. External sharing services receive the article link when you choose to use them.

The editor can ask OpenAI to interpret aggregate counts and public article metadata to identify patterns and questions for further research. We do not send reader names, comments, contact details or individual browsing profiles to this analysis. It does not create personal recommendations or automatically publish articles. Analysis is cached for editorial review; entries older than 30 days are cleared when a new analysis is generated.

Where a wider Disqus discussion is offered, it is not loaded until you choose to open it. When loaded, Disqus may process technical information, cookies and any account or comment information you provide under its own privacy policy. You can read and submit a first-party reader note without loading Disqus.

Practitioner contributions

If you propose a written account, interview or original video, we store the name, contact email, optional role, experience and links you supply, along with your permission to contact you. These submissions remain private for editorial review. We agree attribution and publication separately; submitting an account does not subscribe you to marketing. Use the contact form to request correction or deletion.

Signup and delivery checks

We count anonymous form visibility, submission attempts, validation errors and sample-preview events without sending email addresses or visitor identifiers to those counters. For a subscriber welcome email we store the provider message identifier and sending or delivery status so the editor can investigate failures. A delivered status means the receiving mail server accepted the email, not that you opened or read it.

Your choices

Count visits from this browser?

You can pause the portal’s first-party activity counters. This is also useful for editorial checks. Your choice stays on this device; it does not create a visitor identifier.

First-party activity counters are enabled.

Google Analytics cookies

Google Analytics is optional and starts only after you allow it. You can withdraw consent here. The visit-counting opt-out above also pauses Google Analytics.
